The apocalypse is here! Infection is everywhere. Captain Richard Yorke's British army unit were tasked with escorting civilians to the safety of Twickenham rugby stadium but instead find themselves facing wave after wave of flesh-hungry ravening maniacs driven to pass on the virus infecting them.
Meanwhile teacher Sean O'Day hides out with his family, hoping the infected hordes will pass them by, while schoolboy Richard Green spends his time hunting and killing the infected, blaming them for the death of his best friend.
None of their lives will ever be the same again.
Going Viral is the first book of The Virus Sequence, a post-apocalyptic thriller in the tradition of Dawn Of The Dead and 28 Days Later.

This book surprised me by the writing skills of the author on one hand and the technical military savvy on the other. I was drawn into the story and the journey as these small groups of survivors try to reach refuge despite the odds. The characters are well crafted and three dimensional, and the author somehow manages to make these characters "real" while at the same time not letting the plot drag. A definite winner and an author I will make sure to watch since the story cries out for a sequel.

Going Viral The Virus Sequence Book 1 eBook Chris Braid Reviews

Apparently, when a bunch of Brits are running for their lives, being chased by zombies, the one thing they do is... talk. And never stop. Or maybe the author thinks he's being clever and filling his story with witty repartee. Military unit, family group, whatever; forget the action, let's banter back and forth for pages and pages. Actually not very witty, either. And it gets worse as you go through the story. Got bored halfway through.
Interesting spin on the Z genera. Good characters and a good story line. Looking forward to next 2 in series.
I highly recommend this book. It is a very good read. Loved reading it. Will be buying the next one.
I really liked this book. 4 stars because the chapters with the military were hard for me to follow. Maybe if I knew more English slang I could have followed that part of the story better. I can't wait for the sequel that I hope is coming. I need to know what happens to these people.
A fun romp through the English country side along the lines of 28 days later. Well worth the price. The author does not have any other books listed so i am guessing this is his first and if so a fine job of it. I can not wait for the sequel--i hope one is coming
I'm looking forward to the sequel. A great cast of characters and a lot of good action. My only issue was the British slang and dialog of the military group was difficult to follow and kept pulling me out of the story to try and interpret what was being said. It may add "realism" but it detracts from the flow of the story.
Englishman English, ugh but I figured most out. Beyond that it was a really good. Characters and story solid in my book. Recommended.
